Membership applications are welcomed from security personnel who wish to be respected and recognized by their community as professionals.

Members who are considering continuous professional development, whether you are a security officer wishing to climb up the ladder or a manager who needs to learn new skills, Nigerian Institute for Industrial Security will provide the necessary tools to fulfil your aim.

Our membership is diverse and cuts cross-sector engagement such as:

  • Providers of Security goods and Guarding services.
  • Corporate security Supervisors, Managers and Directors.
  • Security Managers in the public sector.
  • Individuals currently serving in the Civil Service, the Police and the Armed Forces.
  • Providers of Security education including Trainers and Academics.
  • Security Consultants.

We also welcome those aspiring to reach management positions, through study and/or personal development, and individuals whose core business is closely aligned to that of a security practitioner.

Each application is reviewed by a committee and offered the qualifying membership grade. Higher grades can be achieved over time, through professional development and our continuous development program.

MEMBERSHIP REQUIREMENTS

Student Member (SNIIS)

  • Not less than 18 years of age and mentally stable.
  • Holders of basic certificate in Security.
  • Students currently undergoing the NIIS Certified Security Specialist Training (CSS)

Associate Member (ANIIS)

  • A practicing security and/or safety professional minimum of 3 years working experience.
  • A certified member of a security or safety professional body
  • Application to this category is through direct registration by qualification and experience.

Member (MNIIS)

  • After two Years of being an Associate member of NIIS, you are entitled for an upgrade to Full membership and meeting other requirements such as, attending the mandatory development programs, conferences and clearing your outstanding membership debt if any.
  • After two years of being a Graduate Member, you are entitled for an upgrade to Full membership and meeting other requirements such as, attending the mandatory development programs, conferences and clearing your outstanding membership debt if any.
  • An employee at supervisory level with not less than 5 subordinates.
  • A practicing security and/or safety professional minimum of 5 years working experience and above

Fellow (FNIIS)

  • A senior member of NIIS for at least 2 years. (Applicable to NIIS Members only)
  • A practicing security professional with over 15 years’ experience.
  • Referral from at least 2 Fellows of NIIS.

Senior Fellow (SFNIIS)

  • This is an upgrade after being a Fellow of NIIS for at least 5years.
  • A practicing security professional with over 20 years’ experience.

Life Fellow (LFNIIS)

The life fellow award is given to those nominated by the board for their outstanding achievements in the Security profession, has rendered notable contribution to the advancement of the profession, public service or in any other way deemed worthy of the honor.

  • Confirming your status, you can use the post-nominal letters according to your grade level after your name. (e.g.: SNIIS,GNIIS, ANIIS,MNIIS, SMNIIS, FNIIS, SFNIIS, LFNIIS)
  • Membership Certificates can be used for professional upliftments such as; promotions, getting good jobs etc.
